BUG: Flow Launcher freezes doing multiplication

Problem Description

Starting after updating a few days ago, Flow Launcher has become very unresponsive when typing numbers and sometimes freezes completely. I renamed the folders in Appdata/roaming and /local and reinstalled the latest version from Github, but still have the same issue.

I haven't customized any settings or added any plugins. It was working fine before. I only noticed it was a problem a few days ago and surprised it still happening today after updating.

Not only does it freeze when doing multiplication, but it lags horribly when typing numbers. For example trying to type "1000" types 1 just fine, then freezes for 2-3 seconds, then the remaining 3 zeroes appear altogether.

The worst part is the window is frozen and always on top, so it gets in the way of my desktop. I have to use task manager to kill it. I wonder what the problem is? Is it something on my PC that is corrupt, or is it a bug in the program?

To Reproduce

1. Type 12 * 12
2. It lags a little bit after typing any digit
3. The total shows up as 144, but then it freezes

Just to clarify this started happening in v2.1.2 (but sometime after you installed or upgraded this) and continues to happen with the latest 2.1.3?

@deefrawley I think that's right. I reinstalled the latest version (2.1.3) today and I can see in the old logs directory I had 2.1.2 from 5/10 through 6/8. But maybe I can get you a better answer.

My old logs folder has 12 versions from 1.19.5 to 2.1.3. I searched for some of the errors in the logs.

"Unexpected HRESULT has been returned from a call to a COM component"

110 matches. version 2.1.0 - 2.1.3

"Failed to execute windows index search query: SELECT TOP 100 "System.FileName""

308 matches. version 2.1.0 - 2.1.3

The first error was on 2/24/2026 on version 2.1.0. So if that is the issue, it could have been an issue since 2.1.0. I only started noticing it more recently.

I just triggered the bug and, after freezing for 45 seconds, I saw this error pop up in the error log, so it's probably the issue:
