Limit history to limit RAM usage

With an ever-increasing history it might consume too much RAM on smaller devices like Raspberry Pi 1 or Zero.

There might be some CLI arguments to limit the amount and/or age of history entries.

Out of curiosity, how many messages do you have there and how much RAM is being used then?

Also, if something runs longer, why not something more permanent? Personally I use Grafana connected to VictoriaMetrics and filled via https://github.com/EdJoPaTo/mqtt2influxdb for that.

Occasionally I need to leave the MQTT client open to analyze packets from devices in the field. I don't need or want them permanently saved to disk, just for analysis after 12-24 hours to view the graphs of the values ​​directly on the screen (like MQTT Explorer does).

Once I forgot it on for a few days and it almost exceeded the 16GB limit of my mini-server. I don't remember the exact number of messages, but I wouldn't be surprised if it was something between 200k and 500k msgs.
