instalation of Atom editor fails in bash for ubuntu for windows 10

Atom seems unable to access the ubuntu on windows file system

I've had a similar issue. I tried installing atom in Ubuntu for Windows, but it won't open as graphical applications aren't supported. The best solution I've got thus far is using this tutorial:

It uses remote-atom so that you can open files from Ubuntu for Win in atom, edit them and it'll sync them back across to the ubuntu side. I actually skipped using PuTTy (Step 5) and just started using the ratom command.
