From 27e03afabfe790bdb23a4d58efeb1c0ded5c48a9 Mon Sep 17 00:00:00 2001 From: Odatas <46987568+Odatas@users.noreply.github.com> Date: Mon, 6 Apr 2026 11:48:28 +0200 Subject: [PATCH 1/5] fix(realtime): fix watchdog reconnect using stale websocket transport The watchdog failed to reconnect after connection loss because sub_manager was not reset to None after close_async(). This caused _create_sub_manager() to return early, reusing the old transport with an expired token and websocketSubscriptionUrl. Changes: - realtime.py: reset session and sub_manager to None in finally block after close_async() so _create_sub_manager() builds a fresh transport - realtime.py: add on_reconnect callback to TibberRT, called before each reconnect to fetch a fresh websocketSubscriptionUrl via update_info() - realtime.py: guard sub_endpoint setter to skip sub_manager replacement when URL is unchanged, preventing orphaned websocket connections - realtime.py: replace assert statements with explicit RuntimeError - home.py: remove redundant update_info() call from rt_resubscribe(), reconnect orchestration now handled entirely by the watchdog - __init__.py: pass update_info as on_reconnect callback to TibberRT - __init__.py: fix misplaced docstring in set_access_token() Fixes: https://github.com/home-assistant/core/issues/162395 --- tibber/__init__.py | 3 +- tibber/home.py | 14 ++++----- tibber/realtime.py | 78 +++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++------- 3 files changed, 75 insertions(+), 20 deletions(-) diff --git a/tibber/__init__.py b/tibber/__init__.py index cacad7b..23f1540 100644 --- a/tibber/__init__.py +++ b/tibber/__init__.py @@ -71,6 +71,7 @@ def __init__( self.timeout, self._user_agent, ssl=ssl, + on_reconnect=self.update_info, ) self.time_zone: dt.tzinfo = time_zone or dt.UTC @@ -228,9 +229,9 @@ async def rt_disconnect(self) -> None: return await self.realtime.disconnect() async def set_access_token(self, access_token: str) -> None: + """Set access token and reauthorize clients.""" if access_token == self._access_token: return - From ea9610ad17b323b553703d2c2b41e1f91f928441 Mon Sep 17 00:00:00 2001 From: Odatas <46987568+Odatas@users.noreply.github.com> Date: Sat, 11 Apr 2026 14:27:16 +0200 Subject: [PATCH 4/5] fix: improve HTTP error retries and state rollback on token update This commit addresses two intertwined issues that caused the Tibber integration to fail and permanently drop the realtime connection during network or authentication errors: 1. Fixed HTTP retries: Added `RetryableHttpExceptionError` to the `except` block in `execute()`. Previously, retriable HTTP errors (like 504 Gateway Timeouts) bypassed the internal `retry=3` mechanism and immediately crashed the request. 2. Safe token update & realtime recovery: Refactored `set_access_token()` to use a state rollback and a `try...except...else` block. If `update_info()` fails completely, the `_access_token` is reverted to its previous state, and the method raises the error without starting the watchdog. This prevents "zombie" watchdogs from looping on bad tokens and ensures downstream clients (like Home Assistant) can safely retry the update later. The realtime connection is now only restarted in the `else` block if the token validation was successful. --- tibber/__init__.py | 20 ++++++++++++++++---- 1 file changed, 16 insertions(+), 4 deletions(-) diff --git a/tibber/__init__.py b/tibber/__init__.py index 23f1540..8501465 100644 --- a/tibber/__init__.py +++ b/tibber/__init__.py @@ -122,7 +122,7 @@ async def execute( timeout=aiohttp.ClientTimeout(total=self.timeout), ) return (await extract_response_data(resp)).get("data") - except (TimeoutError, aiohttp.ClientError) as err: + except (TimeoutError, aiohttp.ClientError, RetryableHttpExceptionError) as err: if retry > 0: return await self.execute( document, @@ -232,13 +232,25 @@ async def set_access_token(self, access_token: str) -> None: """Set access token and reauthorize clients.""" if access_token == self._access_token: return + restore_realtime = self.realtime.should_restore_connection + old_token = self._access_token # Store old token in case of rollback. + self._access_token = access_token await self.realtime.set_access_token(access_token) self.data_api.set_access_token(access_token) - await self.update_info() - if restore_realtime: - await self.realtime.reconnect() + + try: + await self.update_info() + except Exception: + # Rollback: If token was wrong or API threw transient error. + self._access_token = old_token + raise + else: + # Watchdog start only when connection was successful. + if restore_realtime: + await self.realtime.reconnect() + @property def user_id(self) -> str | None: From be5afc7ca3a91b87116bb0b5f6908c62fe01b47c Mon Sep 17 00:00:00 2001 From: Odatas <46987568+Odatas@users.noreply.github.com> Date: Fri, 17 Apr 2026 14:18:00 +0200 Subject: [PATCH 5/5] fix(realtime): reset sub_manager on 4403 to force fresh websocket URL on retry --- tibber/realtime.py | 8 ++++++++ 1 file changed, 8 insertions(+) diff --git a/tibber/realtime.py b/tibber/realtime.py index a89c2ad..0b618fd 100644 --- a/tibber/realtime.py +++ b/tibber/realtime.py @@ -234,6 +234,14 @@ async def _watchdog(self) -> None: exc_info=_retry_count > 1, ) await asyncio.sleep(delay_seconds) + # Reset sub_manager on 4403 to force a fresh websocketSubscriptionUrl + # on the next attempt.
