It will certainly break the current archiving logic. Currently I'm investigating and planning alternate methods that balance efficiency, time to archive and completeness

Only way I see is by scraping the /comments endpoint. But doing it at scale will be hard. You can abuse multireddits to get more comments with /r/sub1+sub2+sub3+.../comments/
