Why did you choose to compile to C?

Adept is using LLVM. Is it more logical to just compile to LLVM IR and let LLVM do the rest of the job to get the final binary?

It does compile to LLVM. It does not compile to C.

What does gcc.exe, ld.exe and windres.exe in the bin directory do?

ld is used for linking, windres is used for generating Window's resource files, and I don't remember why gcc was added in, I think needed by windres if I recall correctly.

On macOS and Linux, the system gcc command is used to link.
