Define cable cut and branch lengths

• Define overall cable length first (L), then work backwards from each end as needed (L_AB, ...)? Remaining length could be auto-calculated. Or vice-versa.
• Define branch/cut points on "left" and "right" ends of cable
• Somehow specify at what point a connector is attached to a cable?

Perhaps "End A" and "End B" rather than left/right, master/slave, supply/load and getting stuck with those descriptions. Or as you stated in #2: endpoint or connection (or fan-out).

If you're starting from a pre-constructed cable, it's probably best to be able to back-compute the total length from segments of interest.
