Hello,
As part of our evaluation of NetLock RMM for a future MSP platform migration, we have identified a few challenges with the Screen Control module.
Performance
Our NetLock RMM server is hosted at OVH in Germany. Testing was performed on Windows endpoints located overseas as well as Windows servers hosted in OVH datacenters in France.
We tested both SignalR and Relay modes and observed no significant difference between them.
The remote session connects successfully, but screen updates are extremely slow:
- The screen often remains frozen for several seconds.
- Mouse and keyboard actions may take between 5 and 10 seconds, sometimes even longer, before becoming visible.
- The display behaves more like a sequence of screenshots than a real-time interactive session.
- Routine administration tasks become very difficult and, in some cases, practically impossible.
Although the connection itself appears to be established correctly, the refresh rate is so low that the session is not usable for daily administration work.
For comparison, other remote access solutions currently used in our environment remain responsive on the same systems and network connections.
An improvement in latency handling, video compression, bandwidth optimization, and screen refresh performance would be greatly appreciated.
Session Management
We also noticed a situation that may be worth improving.
If the operator closes the remote control window without clicking “End Remote Maintenance”, the session sometimes appears to remain active on the server.
When this happens, it may no longer be possible to start a new remote control session for that device until the previous session has been released.
It could be helpful to automatically terminate the session when the remote control window is closed, or to automatically clean up abandoned sessions after a timeout period.
Thank you for your excellent work on NetLock RMM and for your continued efforts in improving the project
